Captain Picard Has Passed Away...

Sir Patrick Stewart

(13 July 1940 – 28 October 2026)

Sci-fi star Patrick Stewart has died, according to a spokesperson, after "a brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia." Stewart is known for playing Professor X in the “X-Men” film series and Capt. Jean-Luc Picard in the “Star Trek” franchise.

Sir Patrick Stewart (July 13, 1940 – October 28, 2026) was an English actor. With a career spanning over 60 years on stage and screen, he received various accolades, including two Laurence Olivier Awards and a Grammy Award, as well as nominations for a Tony Award, three Golden Globes, four Emmy Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama in 2010.

In 1966, Stewart became a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). He made his Broadway theatre debut in 1971 in a production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 1979, he received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in Antony and Cleopatra in the West End. His first television role was in Coronation Street in 1967. His first major screen roles were in the television series Fall of Eagles (1974), I, Claudius (1976) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (1979). In 2008, he reprised his role as King Claudius in Hamlet and received his second Laurence Olivier Award and his first Tony Award nomination for respectively the West End and Broadway theatre productions.

Stewart gained international stardom for his portrayal of Captain Jean-Luc Picard in the sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1994), a role he reprised in a series of four films (1994–2002) and Star Trek: Picard (2020–2023). He portrayed Captain Ahab in the miniseries Moby Dick (1998), Ebenezer Scrooge in the film A Christmas Carol (1999), and King Henry II in the film The Lion in Winter (2003). He also took guest roles in the sitcoms Frasier (2003) and Extras (2005). He collaborated with Seth MacFarlane starring in the Starz sitcom Blunt Talk (2015–2016), voicing CIA Deputy Director Avery Bullock in the animated sitcom American Dad! (2005–2026), and narrating the two Ted films (2012, 2015).

On film, Stewart gained further stardom portraying Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men film series (2000–2017), reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2022, 2026), with his appearance in Avengers: Doomsday (2026) being his final film appearance. He also acted in Hedda (1975), Excalibur (1981), Dune (1984), Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993), Jeffrey (1995), Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001), Green Room (2015), The Kid Who Would Be King (2019), and The Sheep Detectives (2026).

Ensign Pavel Chekov Has Passed Away...

(September 14, 1936 – October 25, 2026)

Walter Marvin Koenig was an American actor and screenwriter. He began acting professionally in the mid-1960s and quickly rose to prominence for his supporting role as Ensign Pavel Chekov in Star Trek (1967–1969). He went on to reprise this role in all six original-cast Star Trek films, and Star Trek: Generations (1994). He also acted in several other series and films including Goodbye, Raggedy Ann (1971), The Questor Tapes (1974), and Babylon 5 (1993). As a screenwriter, Koenig worked on Land of the Lost (1974), Family (1976), What Really Happened to the Class of '65? (1977) and The Powers of Matthew Star (1982), and wrote several books.

By Miki Matsubara is one of the legendary songs known by many and which, I believe, plenty may hold dear to their heart. It's such an honour to be able to cover this song. For me personally, whenever I listen or sing to it, I feel like I'm traveling to a very old period of time, an experience that I can only imagine its beauty in all its complexity. To be honest, when I started working on the cover, I felt nervous as to whether I can deliver the song while making sure to maintain its emotion and energy. I had to be meticulous in preparing the necessary materials such as instrumentals and listing out the overlays and adlibs to be used. Only then will can the cover be presented as best as possible. On top of that, this song is arranged by Harada-san of evening cinema who beautifully evoked the feelings from the cover. The M/V put together by Dian Saku also gracefully portrayed the song visually. With this collective effort, we managed to put together this piece of cover and we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do ^^

About 15 years ago, I recreated the opening title sequence for the greatest animated show ever on television. Like many, I have waited patiently for Hollywood to finally address the obvious need for a live-action JQ movie. With nothing on the horizon, I finally decided to create something on my own. Though JQ was obviously produced in color, I purposely chose to go with a black-and-white look in keeping with my earliest and fondest memory of watching Jonny Quest in our living room on our tiny black-and-white television. Like before, I claim no ownership of Jonny Quest, and this recreation of Episode One is just for fun and to show Those In Charge what it could possibly look like. Enjoy!

Kaina of the Great Snow Sea (大雪海のカイナ, Ōyukiumi no Kaina) is an original Japanese anime television series created by Tsutomu Nihei and animated by Polygon Pictures to commemorate the studio's 40th anniversary. The series aired from January to March 2023 on Fuji TV's +Ultra programming block. A manga adaptation with art by Itoe Takemoto was serialized in Kodansha's shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius between February 2022 and June 2024. A sequel anime film titled Kaina of the Great Snow Sea: Star Sage premiered in Japanese theaters in October 2023.

Kaina lives on a world covered in an organic membrane called the Canopy, created by massive Orbital Spire Trees. Far beneath the Canopy at the foot of the Orbital Spire Trees lies the endless Snow Sea, where Princess Ririha and her country of Atland struggle to survive against the cold and the rival nation of Valghia. When Ririha travels to the Canopy in a desperate bid to save her country, Kaina rescues her, setting in motion events that will lead the pair to travel the world to uncover its secrets.
