Sawako Noma, the executive who served as the president of the publishing giant
Kodansha
for 24 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 30 due to heart failture.
She was 67. She is survived by her oldest son, Yoshinobu, who was
slated to replace his mother as
Kodansha's president next month.
In addition to running the
company that produced many of the manga in Japan, she served as an executive producer on
Katsuhiro Otomo's animated film adaptation of his
