New Trailers for 'Ready Player One'

"Come with me to a world of pure Imagination..."

READY PLAYER ONE
From filmmaker Steven Spielberg comes the science fiction action adventure “Ready Player One,” based on Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name, which has become a worldwide phenomenon.

The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Spielberg directed the film from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline. The film was produced by Donald De Line, Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah; with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris deFaria and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers.

“Ready Player One” stars Tye Sheridan (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “Mud”), Olivia Cooke (“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl,” “Bates Motel”), Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One – A Star Wars Story,” “Bloodline”) and T.J. Miller (“Deadpool,” “Silicon Valley”), with Simon Pegg (the “Star Trek” movies, the “Mission: Impossible” movies) and Oscar winner Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies,” “Dunkirk”).

Behind the scenes, three-time Oscar winner Spielberg (“Schindler’s List,” “Saving Private Ryan”) reunited his creative team from “Bridge of Spies,” including Oscar-winning director of photography Janusz Kaminski (“Schindler’s List,” “Saving Private Ryan”), Oscar-winning production designer Adam Stockhausen (“The Grand Budapest Hotel”), Oscar-winning editor Michael Kahn (“Saving Private Ryan,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark”) and Sarah Broshar (“The Post”), and costume designer Kasia Walicka-Maimone (“Moonrise Kingdom”). The music is by Oscar-nominated composer Alan Silvestri (the “Back to the Future” films, “Forrest Gump”).

Slated for release on March 29, 2018, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

Netflix's 'Sword Art Online' Live-Action TV Show

Will Asian Characters be "Whitewashed"?
[Source: GameSpot] The issue of whitewashing is one that's plagued TV and film for years, and yet it never seems to stop. Whether it's Tilda Swinton being cast as the Ancient One--typically portrayed as an Asian man in the comics--in Doctor Strange or Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games--despite the books describing the character as having olive skin and black hair, it's something that's all too common.

However, Altered Carbon executive producer Laeta Kalogridis is preemptively shutting down any notion of whitewashing on her next project. Kalogridis is currently working on a live-action adaptation of the Japanese light novel series Sword Art Online, which will be available via Netflix, and she's planning to cast the series appropriately.

Speaking to Collider, she clears the air immediately. "Well, let's get the obvious bit out of the way, right away. SAO is an essentially Japanese property, in which Kirito and Asuna, who are the two leads, are Japanese. In the television show, Kirito and Asuna will be played by Asian actors," she says. "When I sold it to Netflix, we were all on the same page. They are not interested in whitewashing it, and I am not interested in whitewashing it."

That said, the adaptation will have a global feel, thanks in part to the property it's based on. The original light novels are set in a near future, with most of the story taking place in a virtual reality MMORPG.

"In terms of the secondary characters, because the game is meant to be global, the way it's presented in the anime and in the light novels, there are secondary characters that clearly are from other parts of the world, like Klein and Agil," Kalogridis says. "To me, it's very obvious when you watch it that you're meant to take that this game spans the globe, but Kirito and Asuna are very clearly located as kids from Japan, and Tokyo, if I'm not mistaken. That is what we will be doing because that is the story."

At this point, there is no announced release date for Netflix's take on Sword Art Online. If you want to familiarize yourself with the series, though, in addition to the light novels, there are manga and anime adaptations you can check out. In fact, you can stream the anime on Netflix.

Elon Musk is a fan of 'Heavy Metal' the Movie

HEAVY METAL in SPACE
On February 6th, 2018 SpaceX launched the first test flight of their new Falcon Heavy rocket. Rather than risk a multi-million dollar satellite for the test flight to Mars, SpaceX attached Tesla Roadster #4 to the capsule and launched it into Earth orbit before it leaves for the Sun so the craft can slingshot to Mars. SpaceX figures that unless something happens along the way, the Tesla Roadster will be parked just past Mars for the next billion years. The footage is from the on-board live camera feed. There are no video effects applied, the lens flare and whatnot are from the sensors. The music is Don Felder - Heavy Metal (Taking a Ride) from the movie Heavy Metal.

Batman finds himself in feudal Japan...

BATMAN NINJA
Prepare to witness the Dark Knight, alongside many of his most famed allies and infamous foes, in an eye-popping anime display you've never seen before when Warner Bros. Japan, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment present Batman Ninja. The all-new, feature-length animated film arrives on Digital starting April 24, 2018, and Blu-ray™ Steelbook, Blu-ray™ Combo Pack and DVD on May 8, 2018.

Batman Ninja takes a journey across the ages as Gorilla Grodd's time displacement machine transports many of Batman's worst enemies to feudal Japan - along with the Dark Knight and a few of his allies. The villains take over the forms of the feudal lords that rule the divided land, with the Joker taking the lead among the warring factions. As his traditional high-tech weaponry is exhausted almost immediately, Batman must rely on his intellect and his allies - including Catwoman and the extended Bat-family - to restore order to the land, and return to present-day Gotham City.

The visually stunning Batman Ninja is the creative result of a trio of anime's finest filmmakers: director Jumpei Mizusaki (Opening animation of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure), writer Kazuki Nakashima (Gurren Lagann), and character designer Takashi Okazaki (Afro Samurai) produced the original movie with Warner Bros. Japan. The script was then reinterpreted and rewritten for English-language distribution by award-winning screenwriters Leo Chu and Eric Garcia (Supah Ninjas, Afro Samurai). Benjamin Melniker and Michael Uslan are Executive Producers.

Roger Craig Smith (Batman: Arkham Origins) and Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development) lead an impressive cast as the voices of Batman and the Joker, respectively. Grey Griffin (Scooby-Doo franchise) and Tara Strong (Batman: The Killing Joke) supply the voices of the antagonist & protagonist's closest allies - Catwoman and Harley Quinn, respectively - while Fred Tatasciore (Family Guy) provides the gruff-yet-sophisticated tones of Gorilla Grodd, a villain who must team with Batman to achieve his own personal agenda. Other voice actors include Bat-family members Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10: Omniverse) as Robin, Adam Croasdell (Reign) as Nightwing and Alfred, and Will Friedle (Boy Meets World) as Red Robin, and the Rogue's gallery also features Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) as Penguin and Eric Bauza (The Adventures of Puss in Boots) as Two-Face. Doing double duty is Tatasciore as Deathstroke, Strong as Poison Ivy, and Friedle as Red Hood.

Trailer for 'The Breadwinner'

THE BREADWINNER
Based on Deborah Ellis' 2000 middle-grade novel, THE BREADWINNER follows curious, storytelling 11-year-old Parvana (voiced by Saara Chaudry), who helps her father, an amputee former teacher, peddle goods in a market in Kabul, Afghanistan. Taliban soldiers and followers harass him and eventually imprison him for being "an enemy of Islam." Without a father to care for them, the family -- which includes Parvana; her older sister, Soraya; their baby brother; and their mother -- is left without any means to make money or even purchase goods in the market. So Parvana decides to cut her hair and disguise herself as a boy in order to leave the house, provide for her family, and attempt to find and speak to her father in prison. Much to her surprise, Parvana discovers that a former classmate, Shauzia (Soma Chhaya), is also pretending to be a boy to make a living. Can the two girls successfully avoid Taliban attention?

This gorgeously animated but unflinching tale of a young girl's courage under Taliban rule is a poignant, important reminder about the violence that girls and women face in extreme patriarchies. The story of a girl disguising herself as a boy is a familiar one, but The Breadwinner puts a unique spin on it, because Parvana doesn't do it to fight, like in Mulan, or to learn, as in Yentl, but simply to survive. Not only are all mothers and daughters supposed to stay at home unless they're accompanied by husbands or fathers, but even men are restricted in their abilities and schooling (many can't even read). What's extraordinary about Parvana is that she's brave, yes, but she's also committed to carrying on her mother and father's love of ancient Afghani folktales and legends. This leads to a stylized story-within-a-story that Parvana tells her brother about a boy named Sulayman who saves his village from the evil elephant king, despite being young and naive.

The fable, which has a different look than the rest of the film's animation, mirrors Parvana's own role in rescuing her family from certain doom. Her perseverance under unthinkably tense conditions is remarkable; it's an inspiration for her melancholy mother and sheltered older sister. The movie's subject matter might be too intense and the violence too realistic for very young viewers, but tweens and young teens aware of, say, Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai's story, should find it fascinating and educational. Like Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon's previous big films (The Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea), The Breadwinner blends folklore with realism and ultimately shows how children are far braver than some might think.

Now in Theaters. Buy Tickets to The Breadwinner here!

They're making a Kim Possible Live-Action Movie!

Who do you think should play Kim Possible?
Madelaine Petsch might be Possible
[Source: TeenVogue] Earlier this week, the Disney Channel announced it was making a Kim Possible live-action movie — and that it had begun the casting process. "Call me, beep me, if you want a #KimPossible DCOM! Casting has just begun for live-action Kim Possible @DisneyChannelOriginalMovie. Who would you love to see play Kim?" a caption on the network's Instagram page read.

This question immediately led people to begin speculating over who could play the movie's protagonist. The initial suggestions included The Mummy's Sofia Boutella and Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner. But BuzzFeed also spotted another suggestion being thrown around on Twitter: Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch.

People have actually been calling for a Kim Possible played by Madelaine since before the movie was even announced. "Concept: a live-action Kim Possible with @madelainepetsch and @YaraShahidi as Kim and Monique," Self social media editor Taylyn Washington-Harmon wrote on February 2 in an extremely prescient tweet. Some fans are going as far as to beg Madelaine to play Kim Possible. As for the role of Ron Stoppable? Twitter is nominating none other than Spider-Man Tom Holland to play the sidekick for once.

Mazinger Z on the Big Screen!

MAZINGER Z: INFINITY
Coming to Select Theaters
0 2   .   1 1   .   2 0 1 8
Mazinger Z is an enormous super robot, constructed with a fictitious metal called Super-Alloy Z (超合金Z Chōgokin Zetto), which is forged from a new element (Japanium) mined from a reservoir found only in the sediment of Mt. Fuji, in Japan. The mecha was built by Professor Juzo Kabuto as a secret weapon against the forces of evil, represented in the series by the Mechanical Beasts of Dr. Hell. The latter was the German member of a Japanese archeological team, which discovered ruins of a lost pre-Grecian civilization on an island named Bardos (or Birdos, although some inconsistent translations have identified the island as being the actual Greek island of Rhodes); the civilization was loosely based on the ancient Mycenae, and was called the Mycéne Empire in the series. One of their findings was that the Mycene used an army of steel titans about 20 meters in height (compare with the Greek legend of Talos). Finding prototypes of those titans underground which could be remote-controlled and realizing their immense power on the battlefield, Dr. Hell goes insane and has all the other scientists of his research team killed except for Professor Kabuto, who manages to escape. The lone survivor goes back to Japan and attempts to warn the world of its imminent danger. Meanwhile, Dr. Hell establishes his headquarters on a mobile island, and plans to use the Mechanical Beasts to become the new ruler of the world. To counter this, Kabuto constructs Mazinger Z and manages to finish it just before being killed by a bomb planted by Hell's right-hand person, Baron Ashura, a half-man, half-woman. As he lays dying, he manages to inform his grandson Kouji Kabuto about the robot and its use. Kouji becomes the robot's pilot, and from that point on battles both the continuous mechanical monsters, and the sinister henchmen sent by Doctor Hell.
MOVIE SYNOPSIS:
Ten years ago, the villainous scientist Dr. Hell led his wicked followers, known as the Underground Empire, in a struggle to destroy all of humanity. It was against these forces that the young hero Koji Kabuto fought, piloting the legendary super robot “Mazinger Z.” Koji’s victory stopped Dr. Hell’s evil plan and returned peace to the Earth. Now Koji has left the pilot seat behind and become a scientist in his own right, following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps. Yet an unexpected encounter deep under Mt. Fuji triggers an even greater threat to mankind than ever before and alters Koji’s destiny forever. With humanity’s fate in their hands, Koji and Mazinger Z face a choice between good…and evil. Audiences who attend the English subtitled premiere will also have the chance to receive an exclusive Mazinger Z: INFINITY mini-poster (limited quantities, while supplies last).
