High Moon

[Source: blastr.com] Acclaimed producer Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal) had the sci-fi series High Moon in development at Syfy for years, until the network ultimately passed. But now we finally have our first look at what could’ve been.

The project has been kicking around since 2012, but with so many new shows on the way, the network decided not to move forward with a full series order. Instead, the pilot has been repackaged as a 90-minute TV movie, and we have the first 3+ minutes of footage right here.
As you’d expect from a Fuller-helmed series, it’s a little quirky, but the opening scene helps set the tone for the story and visual style. It’s also a little, well, weird. But considering that the future-set series is framed around a moon mining operation that finds several countries thrust into chaos after a new life form is discovered, a little weird is to be expected.

The pilot is an adaptation of John Christopher’s 1969 young adult novel The Lotus Caves, and stars Jonathan Tucker (Parenthood), Chris Diamantopoulos (24) and Jake Sandvig (Easy A). Check out the first footage below and let us know what you think:

Syfy plans to air the reworked pilot on Sept. 15 at 9/8c. So go ahead and set your DVR.
