READY... SET... ACTION!
This snapper spends hours painstakingly putting together explosive action shots – out of TOYS. Photographer Jared Middleton, 26, recreates the dramatic scenes using well-known children's characters like a Stormtrooper from Star Wars and Pokemon's Charmander. Call centre worker Jared, from New York, began taking the pictures as a hobby in 2014 in local parks, abandoned buildings and his own backyard. He said: "After I started taking my toy photography, I began posting my collection on Instagram.

'Blame!' Action Figures Coming Out Next Year

BLAME! ACTION FIGURES

Blame! started out as a manga by Tsutomu Nihei. Epic in scope and set in the distant future, it dealt with the remnants of humanity trying to survive within the immense confines of solid Dyson sphere known only as The City.

The protagonist of the story was a mysterious man called Killy. Equipped with an incredibly powerful handheld Gravitational Beam Emitter, Killy’s quest was to find a human with Net Terminal Genes to cease the endless building of The City and liberate humanity from the constant slaughter by the Safeguard.
The manga itself is a huge and complex work, so when Polygon Pictures chose to adapt it they picked a small section from the manga featuring human characters. They acted as the exposition for the story and helped give the plot some historical context.

It broadly worked and the movie is a decent companion to its host manga. It also looks like another movie will be on the way sometime in the future, so Killy’s anime story still has a way to go yet.
These new figures tie into the anime version of Blame! and 1000Toys has clearly done an exemplary job. Previously, 1000Toys has directly collaborated with Nihei on larger 1/6 scale figures but these new 1/12 scale figures look at least as good and more affordable with it.

The two figures planned are of Killy himself and the newer Safeguard units. In the manga, they look slightly less creepy and are more humanoid in design. In the anime though, the Safeguard units are actually quite terrifying and 1000Toys has retained this newer and more unnerving design.

Pre-orders for both figures are now open and can be done directly via 1000Toys site, so if you want either of these figures then I advise you move quickly to avoid being left out.

While I am always happy to see Nihei’s work get the toy treatment, as the Sentinel version of the Tsugumori from Knights of Sidonia is amazing, I can only hope that there is a full-scale toy of the Gravitational Beam Emitter on the cards at some point in the future.

These action figures are now available for pre-order from 1000Toys directly and will be released in January next year. The Killy figure costs $65, whereas the Safeguard figure costs $60. Both of these prices include shipping. You can also watch the Blame! anime movie over on Netflix.

Thief Caught Stealing Prized Star Wars Collection

"S I T H   H A P P E N S"
In the first "Star Wars" film, Obi-Wan Kenobi said, "in my experience there is no such thing as luck." Steve Sansweet thinks differently.

Sansweet, the owner of the largest privately owned collection of Star Wars memorabilia in the world, said Monday he feels lucky he found out about the theft of $200,000 worth of prized vintage action figures from his California nonprofit museum before it was too late.
About 120 pieces were stolen between 2015 and 2016 by a friend who stayed at the compound four times during that period, Sansweet said.

The sprawling collections are set up on shelves and are not behind glass or under lock and key.

About 100 of the stolen items have been recovered, he said.

Police arrested Carl Edward Cunningham, 45, of Marietta, Georgia, and in March, the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office charged him with felony grand theft.

Cunningham is free on $25,000 bail and is scheduled to be in court June 27 for a preliminary hearing.

Neither Cunningham, nor his lawyer, Amy Chapman, returned calls for comment.

"It was very lucky we found out when we did — but not so lucky that he had a year to steal things," Sansweet said.

Sansweet, the founder of Rancho Obi-Wan in Petaluma, California, owns roughly 400,000 pieces of Star Wars memorabilia that are on display and shown to visitors.
That includes everything from the original banner Lucasfilm used to promote Star Wars at fan conventions in 1976, to a Darth Vader costume and all of the more than 2,500 small action figures issued over the past 40 years.

The thefts surfaced after a collector learned he had inadvertently purchased a Boba Fett action figure stolen from a Texas warehouse, Sansweet said.

Star Wars actors Mark Hamill and Peter Mayhew tweeted about Sansweet's news Monday.

"Maybe publish a list of stolen items to protect potential victims from purchasing 'hot' merchandise. #TheFraudIsStrongInThisOne #SithHappens," Hamill said.

"This is despicable. Keep an eye out. Get the word out," Mayhew tweeted.

Hasbro unveils new Star Wars merchandise

Princess Leia and Darth Revan are getting
new 6" Black Series figures, and you can
also build your own lightsaber...

[Source: Den of Geek] At the New York Toy Fair which took place earlier this month, Hasbro unveiled a shedload of additions to their already-massive range of Star Wars merchandise. The toymakers have revealed new 6-inch Black Series figures of Princess Leia, the Snowtrooper, and the Knights Of The Old Republic videogame’s masked evildoer Darth Revan.

If you fancy building your own lightsaber, you might also be interested in the latest additions to the BladeBuilders range. A red and a green one have been added, allowing you to choose the Dark Side or the Light before piecing together your own unique weapon.

Additionally, fans of Star Wars: Rebels will be happy to see new moveable figurines of Kanan, Sabine and the Seventh Sister Inquisitor (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar in season 2 of the show).

Marvel Legends Big Time Let Down Spider-Man

BIG TIME LET DOWN SPIDER-MAN
Inspired by watching boring Transformers action figure reviews, the ShartimusPrime youtube channel was launched in 2008. Engaging the audience with an edgy sense of humor while maintaining appropriate language for all ages, action figure collecting has never been this fun, and videos are posted daily! Unexpectedly, the channel became more popular for Marvel Legends reviews and collection display videos. After a few years, the channel has branched out to review other figure properties aside from Marvel Legends and G1 Transformers Masterpiece. Hot Toys, Star Wars, Diamond Select Toys, DC Collectibles, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dragon Ball Z, Attack on Titan, Godzilla, Evil Dead, and The Walking Dead toy lines have all been added to the roster of nearly 2,000 video reviews. Japanese import figures from SH Figuarts, Bandai, Figma, Square Enix, and Medicom MAFEX have been favorites as well. More recently, Kotobukiya Statues (including the very sexy Bishoujo line) and NECA Toys have become more prevalent on the channel. Being a big fan of movies such as Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Evil Dead, Pacific Rim, Aliens, and other films has lead the channel in the direction of also reviewing movies, movie trailers, blu ray releases, and tv shows. News updates for 2016 releases and beyond are also posted. Audience engagement is a big part of this channel, with giveaways and fan mail being read publicly once a week in the PO Box Pick-Up videos. Impressive “Shart-Art” is shared via social media and included in the opening theme song. The audience is also kept up to date with any changes to the channel, along with recent comic book pick-ups, unboxings, and action figure hauls. Stop-motion segments punishing the popular meme of the Big Time Let Down Spider-Man close most of the comparison segments, and are compiled together for guaranteed access to patrons. Lastly, all figure reviews close with a slideshow featuring dynamic poses of the figure inspired by ACBA, with the added bonus of music performed and recorded by ShartimusPrime himself.

"Force Awakens" Toys at NYCC 2015

[Source: blastr.com] 'Twas the night before New York Comic Con, and all through the house, there were toys. Hasbro held its annual NYCC party last night, and -- amidst the colorful cocktails and tiny hors d’oeuvres with themed names (the Jem truly outrageous drink and BB-Ate hot dog pretzel ball) -- unveiled new toys from its Star Wars Black, Marvel Legends, and Transformers: Prime Wars lines for late 2015 and 2016.

The biggest news came out of The Force Awakens. A new 6-inch Han Solo figure from the Black line revealed what the former smuggler would look like in the new movie. What I refer to as the “Chewie, we’re home” figure is nicely sculpted and shows off a graying, weathered Harrison Ford. Also of note was a BB-8 figure that showed the little droid sporting a shock arm as well as a buzzsaw. That’s right, everyone’s new favorite character is weaponized.

On the dark side of things, there was a new General Hux figure and a very cool Kylo Ren wearable helmet with electronic sound effects. The Black series Titanium line was also on display, which features metal sculpts of vehicles (a Jakku Landspeeder, Imperial Shuttle, etc.) and miniature helmets (Phasma, First Order trooper, Ren).

In the Marvel Legends 3 ¾-inch series, Hasbro displayed new figures of Carol Danvers Captain Marvel, comic-book Yondu, Classic Iron Man, Ulik, Triton and a Spider-Man Noir. Spider-Man Noir, from the alternate Marvel universe where the heroes are introduced in the 1930s, was the coolest surprise from the line. But seeing Carol in the Legends line ranked pretty high.

The 6-inch Legends line, meanwhile, featured Sharon Carter, Mockingbird, Scourge, Whirlwind, Cottonmouth and Taskmaster. There will also be a classic Captain America figure with an alternate Cap Wolf head, and a Rogue figure with an Onslaught helmet. Speaking of Onslaught, the build-a-figure from this wave will be a Red Skull Onslaught!

In the world of Transformers, Hasbro announced that, in 2016, Transformers Generations would transition from Combiner Wars to the new theme of “Titans Return.” Titans will actually be part two of the massive “Prime Wars” cross media storyline currently running through comics, videogames and the Machinima digital series. The Hollywood Reporter provided a breakdown of what all this means, if you wish to know more. The Titans Return line includes Leader, Legends, Titan Masters, Deluxe and Voyager classes of figures.

The Transformers Robots in Disguise series of toys will get new additions with Warrior Class Megatronus, Fracture, Thunderhoof, Quillfire, Optimus Prime in an arctic update, arctic Drift and Bumblebee in a stealth update. There will also be a Legions Class Ratchet and Blizzard Strike Optimus.

Check out the gallery from the event last night, along with some shots courtesy of Hasbro.

Bandai's Captain Phasma Figure

C A P T A I N   P H A S M A

Clad in distinctive metallic armor, Captain Phasma commands the First Order's legions of troopers.

Bandai’s latest The Force Awakens Figuarts toy is a fantastic looking figure. The 6” scaled Phasma (meaning she actually dwarfs the First Order Stormtrooper and Kylo Ren by a good head or so) is, like her counterparts, sparsely accessorised—she simply has her equally shiny blaster rifle to her name. But that doesn’t stop Phasma from being so damn cool.
The cape is soft plastic rather than a more natural looking cloth, but it hangs brilliantly on the toy in such a way that it looks great in so many different poses.
Alas, Phasma’s badassery can’t stop you from having to wait awhile to get your hands on this figure. Phasma won’t be out in Japan until February of next year—and when she’s out, she’ll set you back 5,616 yen (or around $46).
