GHOST IN THE SHELL
[Source: blastr] Filming is currently underway in Honk Kong for DreamWork’s Ghost in the Shell starring Scarlett Johansson in the role of Major Motoko Kusanagi, and Game of Thrones’ Pilou Asbæk as her trusted right-hand man, Batou.
So far, we’ve only seen the one official pic featuring the Avengers actress as the Section 9 leader but this being the glorious age of social media and the Internet, new pics snapped on the set of the sci-fi movie while filming was taking place have emerged, giving us a closer look at The Major and our very first look at Batou.
As you can see, Batou is sporting his trademark white flattop hairdo and from the look of things, filming was taking place in some kind of marketplace.
The live-action movie is based on the highly popular cyberpunk anime and manga series created by Masamune Shirow in 1989, and is directed by Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) from a screenplay by Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton).
Below is the official synopsis:
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi property, “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
Ghost in the Shell is slated to open in movie theaters March 31, 2017.
