The World Needs the Avatar...

AVATAR: The Last Airbender
A century ago, young Avatar Aang, afraid of his new responsibilities, fled from his home and was forced into the ocean by a storm. He encased himself and his sky bison Appa in suspended animation in an iceberg near the South Pole. Shortly afterward, Fire Lord Sozin, the ruler of the Fire Nation, launched a world war to expand his nation's empire. Knowing that the Avatar must be an Air Nomad, he carried out a genocide against the Air Nomads, which he timed with the arrival of a comet that gives firebenders tremendous power. A hundred years later, siblings Katara and Sokka, teenagers of the Southern Water Tribe, accidentally discover Aang and revive him.
In the first season, Aang travels with Katara and Sokka to the Northern Water Tribe so he can learn waterbending and be prepared to defeat the Fire Nation. Prince Zuko, the banished son of the current Fire Lord Ozai, pursues them, accompanied by his uncle Iroh, hoping to capture the Avatar in order to restore his honor.
Avatar is set in an Asian and Arctic-inspired world in which some people can telekinetically manipulate one of the four elements—water, earth, fire or air—through practices known as "bending", inspired by Chinese martial arts. The only individual who can bend all four elements, the "Avatar", is responsible for maintaining harmony among the world's four nations, and serves as the link between the physical world and the spirit world. The series is centered around the journey of twelve-year-old Aang, the current Avatar and last survivor of his nation, the Air Nomads, along with his friends Katara, Sokka, and Toph, as they strive to end the Fire Nation's war against the other nations and defeat Fire Lord Ozai before he conquers the world. It also follows the story of Zuko—the exiled prince of the Fire Nation, seeking to restore his lost honor by capturing Aang, accompanied by his uncle Iroh—and later, his sister Azula. Avatar is presented in a style that combines anime with American cartoons and relies on the imagery of primarily Chinese culture, with some other East Asian, Southeast Asian, South Asian, New World, Siberian, and Arctic influences.

[Source: Yahoo!] It's time to head back to the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and relive some of our favorite moments from the series thanks to this huge news from the show's voice cast.

Dante Basco, who voiced Zuko in the original series and Iroh II in the spin-off, The Legend of Korra, announced that the voice actors of Avatar: The Last Airbender were getting together for a special reunion event.

Jack De Sena (Sokka), Grey Griffin (Azula), Olivia Hack (Ty Lee), Jennie Kwan (Suki), Cricket Leigh (Mai), and Michaela Murphy (Toph) are all officially confirmed to come back, with other special guests being announced at a later date.

According to Dante's Instagram post, Katara's voice actress, Mae Whitman, is tagged in the post. Meanwhile, also include #Aang and #UncleIroh, which points to a possibility of seeing Zach Tyler Eisen and Greg Baldwin join in on the fun as well. However, with the show's big legacy and dozens of other voice stars and beloved characters, the possibility is honestly endless.

Fans who are hoping to check out the special reunion can buy tickets over at StageIt, where the show will also be taking place on Saturday, January 9, starting at 6 PM ET/3 PM PT. Tickets are $10. They can also buy some autographs, voice recordings, and merch from their favorite actors if they want to buy a special gift for themselves or other fans at the reunion's official page.

Details Revealed About Avatar 2

The AVATAR Sequels
James Cameron has been promising a series of Avatar sequels for roughly a decade, and audiences are still waiting.

We've already heard quite a few tidbits about what the upcoming films will entail — and we've rounded up all the rumors and spoilers right here.

James Cameron clearly wasn't interested in churning out another Avatar sequel just for the sake of it. Since 2010, he's been dropping hints about what the future of the franchise involves — and it's an increasingly ungainly vision that includes several movie sequels, novels, and much more. Details are often frustratingly vague — heck, even the release dates keep changing.

In fact, trying to pin down exactly when we'll get to see Avatar 2 and its many sequels is something of a fool's errand. Back in 2010, Cameron said the next two films would be coming out in December 2014 and December 2015, respectively. But when January 2015 rolled around with no sign of Avatar 2, he said the sequels had been delayed… but they'd be coming out in 2017 — probably. Later in 2015, Cameron also hinted that there'd be an Avatar 5.

He also claimed that Christmastime would officially be Avatar-time… because Avatar 2 would be coming out on Christmas 2018. Of course, that didn't happen. Then, in April 2017, the timeline shifted again — and Cameron announced we could expect Avatar 2 on December 18th, 2020. Is your head spinning yet? Keep watching the video for more details revealed about Avatar 2!

Live-Action series Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender
Live-Action Series Coming to NETFLIX
[Source: ToonZone] Netflix has announced that it has begun production on a live-action series based on Avatar: The Last Airbender, the hit Nickelodeon animated series. Co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino are both overseeing the new series, and issued a joint statement commenting on the previous live-action feature film adaptation directed by M. Night Shyamalan:

“We’re thrilled for the opportunity to helm this live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We can’t wait to realize Aang’s world as cinematically as we always imagined it to be, and with a culturally appropriate, non-whitewashed cast.

It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to build upon everyone’s great work on the original animated series and go even deeper into the characters, story, action, and world-building. Netflix is wholly dedicated to manifesting our vision for this retelling, and we’re incredibly grateful to be partnering with them.”

The series comes on the wake of the premiere of the nine-episode animated series The Dragon Prince, a new series co-created by Avatar head writer Aaron Ehasz with Avatar alumnus Giancarlo Volpe joining as executive producer and director.
