First Trailer for Star Wars: Resistance

Here's the First Trailer for the Next
Star Wars Animated Series, Resistance
[Source: Gizmodo] All wings, report in! The next animated series set in the galaxy far, far away is just two months away: Lucasfilm and Disney have confirmed that Star Wars Resistance is taking flight October 7. And we’ve finally got our first look at the anime-inspired visuals of the next animated chapter in the Star Wars saga.

Confirmed by Lucasfilm and Disney today, Resistance, set in the years before the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, will premiere on the Disney Channel at 10 pm EST on October 7. The series will air on Disney Channel, before also airing on Disney XD at a later date. The series, which revolves around the ace fighter pilots of Leia Organa’s burgeoning Resistance, follows a young pilot named Kazuda Xiono (voiced by Days of Our Lives’ Christopher Sean), recruited by the rebel group to conduct secretive spying missions on the growing reach of the villainous First Order. Here’s the synopsis for the pilot episode:
Poe and BB-8 assign newly-appointed spy Kaz to the Colossus, a massive aircraft re-fueling platform on an outer rim water planet, home to colorful new aliens, droids and creatures. While undercover, Kaz works as a mechanic and lives with Poe’s old friend Yeager, a veteran pilot who operates a starship repair shop run by his crew: Tam, Neeku and their old battered astromech droid, Bucket. Kaz soon finds himself in over his head with his new friend BB-8 as he’ll have to compete in dangerous sky races, keep his mission a secret from his newfound family, and avoid the danger of the First Order.

Mid-Season Finale for "Rebels"

STAR WARS: REBELS
"Rebel Assault", the final episode of 2017 and the winter finale of Rebels, promises to be a nail-biter as Hera leads the attack against Grand Admiral Thrawn. The big question is, who will make it out alive and who won't?

The episode airs Monday, November 13th at 9 pm ET/PT and then we'll have to wait until early 2018 for more -- but this season has certainly delivered, so you can bet the rest of the season is going to be epic. Especially when you consider how much Rebels has to do in these latest episodes.

During its four seasons, Rebels has connected with specific characters throughout the Star Wars saga; Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Maul, Vader just to name a few. Dantooine got a mention and the Rebels are currently on Yavin IV, two planets that get a mention in Star Wars: A New Hope. We've seen Saw Gerrera, but it was before he went to Jedha. Additionally, the battle of Scarif and the events of Rogue One haven't happened yet. But we know Hera, Chopper, and the Ghost were at the Battle of Scarif.

Thanks to Rogue One, we know Hera and Chopper are alive, but there's no mention anywhere in the rest of the Saga of any other members of the Ghost crew, especially Kanan and Ezra. Somewhere between now and the end of the series, we'll learn what happens to each of these characters and hopefully have a good idea of where they're headed next.

It's very likely this episode will end on a cliffhanger, but that's one of the things that makes Star Wars so fun -- there's always more to the story.

REBELS are talking about a Revolution

STAR WARS: REBELS
[Source: Syfy] The rebellion starts here! Prepare to get all kinds of excited, because Disney XD has released a new one-minute trailer for season four of the CGI animated series, Star Wars Rebels.

In just 60 seconds of the trailer, we learn how the rebellion of the Ghost crew first got started, with a small group of them willing to stand together. This final season will see a number of storylines finally get resolved, as well as how it will all link into Rogue One and A New Hope.

The past three seasons of the series have followed the events that occurred after the demise of the Galactic Republic in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Something tells us that in this final season, we'll get to see one almighty battle between the Rebellion and the Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Galactic Empire.

Star Wars Rebels will be hitting our screens again October 16.

Get Season 3 of Star Wars: REBELS on DVD

STAR WARS: REBELS
Behind The Scenes - The Darksaber
The story of the Ghost crew is far from over. While Sabine confronts new challenges on her home world of Mandalore, Ezra's growing power as both a Jedi and a rebel leader helps the rebellion acquire new resources and recruits for the fight ahead. However, the Imperial effort to eliminate the rebellion is now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before.

The Final Season of STAR WARS Rebels

"It was a simple story about a boy who was lost and a girl who was broken. They fought alongside a survivor, a war veteran, and a fallen knight. I led them into battle, against an evil so terrible, it tried to black out the stars. We fought for each other. We fought for those who could not. But we never imagined it would end... like this."

Midseason trailer for Star Wars Rebels

STAR WARS: REBELS
New Episodes Starting January 7, 2017
Lucasfilm and Disney XD have released a new mid-season trailer for Star Wars Rebels along with stills from the next new episode, the two-part “Ghosts of Geonosis” set to premiere on January 7, 2017, at 8:30 PM (Eastern). Among other things, the trailer picks up several loose plot points from the first half of the show’s third season and includes some forward-looking nods to events from the movie Rogue One (which itself featured several nods to Star Wars Rebels).
OFFICIAL PLOT SYNOPSIS: The crew returns to Geonosis in search of a missing rebel team sent to investigate suspicious activity there, and they are surprised by what they find. After finding a missing rebel team member, the Ghost crew discovers another surprise on Geonosis, and they work to conceal it from Imperial forces.
Forest Whitaker, who stars as Rebel freedom fighter Saw Gerrera in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, provides the voice of the character as he makes his debut on Star Wars Rebels.

Forest Whitaker returns as Saw Gerrera

SAW GERRERA RETURNS IN REBELS
[Source: blastr] After bringing Saw Gerrera to life in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, it’s been officially announced that Forest Whitaker will be reprising the role of the Rebel insurgent in Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels.

The character was first introduced in the previous Star Wars animated series The Clone Wars, where Saw fought alongside a then-Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker before making the jump to live action with Rogue One. And now the character is returning to his animated roots with Star Wars Rebels, and he’s bringing Whitaker with him. Here’s what Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni said (via Entertainment Weekly) about Whitaker's research into the character:

“Forest really wanted to know a lot about the character. He watched The Clone Wars episodes with his character and I had some detail for him about things George [Lucas] and I discussed. It gave him more time to develop the character as far as, ‘How did he get there?’”
Saw will meet up with the Ghost crew during a two-part episode titled “Ghost of Geonosis,” kicking off on Jan. 7. In the clip and video featurette below — which includes an explosive entrance from Saw, video interviews and some cool concept art — seems like we’ll see the very early beginnings of the Death Star (the title is a direct Clone Wars reference to the planet where the Empire’s weapon of mass destruction was first built), except no one knows this is going to be the Death Star yet.

Filoni worked with Lucasfilm story group chief Kiri Hart and Rogue One helmer Gareth Edwards to work out a way to bring a younger Saw Gerrera to the world of Rebels. And he’s far from the version we saw in the movie.

“He’s not quite as beat up as you see him [in Rogue One],” Filoni says. “I never wanted to go into a lengthy thing about this is how Saw lost his foot. It’s more about his philosophy and who he is and what he thinks about the Rebellion — and how they go about resisting the Empire.”

Check out the video below, and let us know what you think about Forest Whitaker reprising the role of Saw Gerrera for Star Wars Rebels. Are you excited to see the character return to fight the good fight alongside the Ghost crew come January?

New 'Star Wars: Rebels' Season 3 Trailer

New REBELS Trailer Finally
Kills The Expanded Universe
[Source: YahooNews] Now that Thrawn is to be reintroduced into the canon in Star Wars Rebels Season 3, we can finally declare the Star Wars expanded universe dead, once and for all. And let us never mention the Yuuzhan Vong again.

On April 25, 2014, Disney delivered the killing blow, reducing all Star Wars Expanded Universe material to a fiction’s fiction called Star Wars Legends. The move was not received well by a segment of Star Wars fandom, who insist there are diamonds in those non-canonical hills. The most often cited asset in the expanded universe must be Grand Admiral Thrawn, the main enemy of the New Republic in the years after Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.

Introduced in Timothy Zahn’s Heir to the Empire, Thrawn attempted to destroy the new galactic government with the help of a pompous, dark Jedi clone and loads of ysalamiri: dumbass lizards with the power to suppress the Force. It is approximately as stupid as it sounds, but Thrawn himself was engaging: a master tactician whose cold calculations contrasted with the passions and personal animosities that steered Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine through the Star Wars movies. Thrawn was the bad guy Grand Moff Tarkin could’ve been, if he had only evacuated the Death Star in time.

Star Wars Rebels will make Thrawn canon once more. Check out this Thrawn-centric teaser trailer for Rebels Season 3:

Star Wars Rebels’ Season 3 Trailer

Reveals Grand Admiral Thrawn
[Source: collider] The first trailer for Star Wars Rebels Season 3 has landed (Update: along with a new clip), and it of course reveals a lot of interesting things. During the Celebration Europe presentation, Warwick Davis hosted a panel that included Executive Producer and Supervising Director Dave Filoni, Sam Witwer (Darth Maul) and Tiya Sircar (Sabine), and the group had a lot of fun discussing what’s coming next in the Rebels universe.

For those unaware, Star Wars Rebels takes place a few years before Episode IV, and leads up to the formation of the Rebel Alliance. The show follows the crew of Kanan, a ragtag band of rebels – Ezra (Taylor Gray), Hera (Vanessa Marshall), Kanan (Freddie Prinze, Jr.), Sabine (Sircar), Zeb (Steve Blum), and Chopper – who ignite a rebellion against the evil Galactic Empire. The crew was joined in Season 2 by Darth Vader (James Earl Jones), Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein), Darth Maul (Witwer) and Captain Rex (Dee Bradley Baker).

Filoni talked about continuity throughout the universe now, with adjustments made to Zeb and Sabine’s looks to be more in line with Rogue One. They also discussed exploring more of Darth Maul’s character, and revealed a new villain …

Check the footage out below:

Thrawnnnnnn! Grand Admiral Thrawn is a character created by Timothy Zahn, who made him the central villain in Heir to the Empire, which was the first book of a popular trilogy published in the 1990s. Thrawn, a Chiss, is a rare non-human Imperial officer, known for his intelligence and ruthlessness. Rebels takes place before the original movie trilogy, which is of course where Thrawn also resides. And now, it seems, he’s officially become part of the Star Wars canon. Thrawn will be voiced by Lars Mikkelsen —yes, brother of Mads Mikkelsen who is starring in Rogue One.

There are a lot of other things to glean from this footage, like the fact that it also seems like Wedge will now be a character in Season 3, and the addition of Bendu, an ancient and powerful new character voiced by Tom Baker (Doctor Who).

The Link Between 'Rebels' And 'Force Awakens'

[Source: Yahoo!News] 2015 kicked off the revitalization of the Star Wars franchise on the big screen, but it s not the only place that fans had been able to watch new material in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars Rebels is currently in the middle of Season 2, and while the animated series has been on break the last couple weeks, it s returning with new episodes next week. To get fans excited, a new trailer was released today, and while there were a lot of goodies to take in, what s caught many eyes is a key link between the show and the latest movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens: a lightsaber with a crossguard. As you can see in the image above, there s a quick shot of protagonist Ezra Bridger holding a green-bladed crossguard lightsaber...
As you can see in the image above, there’s a quick shot of protagonist Ezra Bridger holding a green-bladed crossguard lightsaber. That design can currently be seen in red-bladed form in Star Wars: The Force Awakens being held by main antagonist Kylo Ren. Here’s what executive producer Dave Filoni had to say about its inclusion to EW:
I wanted to put a nod to this new history we’re seeing in The Force Awakens. It’s important to have these links between stories in major ways and subtle ways. Here you find a sword we’ve encountered before and it gives a little more context to something that turns up later.

Although different lightsaber designs were seen across the previous six Star Wars movies, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was the first film in which the crossguard was introduced. The First Order’s Kylo Ren used it many times during Star Wars: The Force Awakens, whether it was going up against another person with a lightsaber or throwing a temper tantrum with it.
At least we know that this design isn’t limited to just dark side users. It’s unclear, though, whether Ezra will keep this lightsaber or stick with his trusty blue one.

Another link to The Force Awakens in the trailer is a giant red beam shooting out of an ancient temple, calling back to Starkiller Base. However, Filoni made sure to note that this is an example of history repeating itself rather than the temple being a direct predecessor. Because we all know the Death Star occupies that spot. He also said the show is unlikely to reveal any big secrets from the movies, just like he wouldn’t want the movies to spoil what happens to any of the major Star Wars Rebels characters.

Make sure to watch the new trailer in its entirely below to learn what’s coming up, including more of Princess Leia’s guest spot, a confrontation between Ahsoka Tano and Darth Vader and the return of more characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Star Wars Rebels Season 2 will resume next Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. EST on Disney XD.

S T A R   W A R S :   R E B E L S
Season Premiere!
(Disney XD) Wednesday, 9:30 PM - "The Lost Commanders"
At least until The Force Awakens arrives, Rebels is our clearest connection to the Star Wars universe of the future, and it will hopefully reaffirm that this week with the official Season 2 premiere, in which the Rebels will embark on increasingly dangerous missions. Over the course of Season 1, the show provided a powerful contrast between the old and the new, often blending them together in seamless ways, and this season the show will go even deeper, with no less a villain than Darth Vader on the heroes' trail.

Sarah Michelle Gellar Revealed as
the Seventh Sister in “Star Wars Rebels”
Lucasfilm and Disney XD have revealed the role that Sarah Michelle Gellar will play on season 2 of Star Wars Rebels. Ms. Gellar will be the cunning and crafty Seventh Sister Inquisitor, described as “a master of deception,” and “tasked by Darth Vader to track down the rebels and capture any surviving Jedi. She’s conniving, manipulative, and deadly with a lightsaber.” A video featurette has been released where she speaks about the role over clips of her character in action.

Return of the Clones - Star Wars Rebels

RETURN OF THE CLONES
Clone troopers were first introduced in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones as highly-skilled combatants that followed any order without questioning its morality. But that has slowly changed over the years, most notably with the character of Captain Rex in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Now everyone’s favorite clone is set to make his debut in Star Wars Rebels, and alongside him are two more Republic veterans who also don’t exactly see eye-to-eye with the Empire.

Dave Filoni
, executive producer of Star Wars Rebels, talks at length about the grizzled soldiers that Ahsoka Tano sent the Ghost crew to look for and who will eventually come into conflict with Kanan -- the fugitive Jedi who watched so many of his friends die at the hands of clone troopers during Order 66.

Veteran Star Wars actor Dee Bradley Baker discusses the challenge of playing three different characters with conflicting personalities, and what he brought to each voice to make them stand out as individuals.

SABINE WREN
  • Sabine Wren has explosive talents for art and demolitions alike, and she won’t hesitate to use them against the Empire. She can stealthily approach and sabotage the enemy or stand alongside her rebel allies to lend her twin blasters to the cause.

ZEB ORRELIOS
