After settlers discovered additional advanced technology, the Vers Empire was founded, which claimed Mars and its secrets for themselves. Later, the Vers Empire declared war on Earth, and in 1999, a battle on the Moon's surface caused the hypergate to explode, shattering the Moon and scattering remnants into a debris belt around the planet. Cut off from Mars, the remnants of the Vers Empire established several massive orbital space stations within the debris belt and a ceasefire was established. 15 years later, in 2014, an attack on the Vers princess during a peace mission causes the Empire to launch a new attack on Earth, this time determined to conquer it once and for all.

P a R a S y T e
Plot Summary: [Source: Wikipedia] Parasyte centers around a 17-year-old teen named Shinichi Izumi, who lives with his mother and father in a quiet neighborhood in Tokyo. One night, worm-like aliens called Parasites invade Earth, taking over the brains of human hosts by entering through their ears or noses. One Parasite attempts to crawl into Shinichi's ear while he sleeps, but fails as Shinichi is wearing headphones, and enters his body by burrowing into his arm instead. In the Japanese version, it takes over his right hand and is named Migi, after the Japanese word for 'right'; Tokyopop's version, in which the images are flipped horizontally, has the Parasite take over Shinichi's left hand and it is named Lefty. Because Shinichi was able to prevent Migi from travelling further up into his brain, both beings retain their separate intellect and personality. As the duo encounter other Parasites, they capitalize on their strange situation and gradually form a strong bond, working together to survive. This gives them an edge in battling other Parasites who frequently attack the pair upon realization that Shinichi's human brain is still intact. Shinichi feels compelled to fight other Parasites, who devour humans as food, while enlisting Migi's help.

2:15 - 3:05    Death Parade (Episodes 9-10)
D E A T H   P A R A D E

3:05 - 3:55    Rage of Bahamut: Genesis 3-4
Rage of Bahamut: Genesis
Plot Summary: [Source: Wikipedia] Mistarcia is a magical world where humans, gods, and demons mingle together. In the past, the black-and-silver winged Bahamut has threatened to destroy the land, but humans, gods, and demons overcame their differences to fight together and sealed its power. The key to that seal was split in two, one half given to the gods and the other to demons, so that they would never be united and Bahamut never released. Now, two thousand years later, the world is in an era of peace - until the day a woman steals the gods' half of the key. The hunt begins to find the thief and maintain the seal while others conspire to find the key, so as to release the fearsome Bahamut.

3:55 - 4:45    Zankyou no Terror 8-9
Z a n k y o u   no   T e r r o r
Plot Summary: [Source: Wikipedia] In an alternate iteration of the present, Tokyo has been hit by a terrorist attack that has devastated the city. Unbeknownst to the authorities is that the terrorist masterminds—who call themselves "Sphinx" (スピンクス Supinkusu)—are two teenaged boys who go by the names Nine and Twelve. Though they apparently should not exist, they have nonetheless decided to "wake up the world" with their heinous plans of destruction, with their fingers on the trigger.

Star Wars: REBELS Comes to Disney Infinity

STAR WARS: REBELS
Star Wars Rebels™ Characters Join Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Lineup
Introducing Four Star Wars Rebels™ Characters, Unlockable Across All Three Star Wars™ Play Sets and Immediately
Playable in the Toy Box

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – (JUNE 12, 2015) Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm today announced that some of the Star Wars™ characters from the popular animated TV series Star Wars Rebels™  are joining Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, Sabine Wren, and Zeb Orrelios will be joining other Star Wars, Marvel, Disney and Disney•Pixar characters in Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition’s Toy Box. Additionally, all characters are unlockable within each Star Wars™ Play Set.

In an effort to thwart the evil plans of the Galactic Empire, these characters are key players in the fight against the forces of the dark side, providing a unique addition to the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition experience.

KANAN JARRUS
  • Jedi turned rebel fugitive, Kanan Jarrus leads his team in secret operations to help overthrow the Galactic Empire. He defends the innocent with his blaster and Lightsaber™ and guides his Padawan, Ezra, in the ways of the Force™.

EZRA BRIDGER
  • Growing up on his own, Ezra Bridger relied on his street smarts – and subconscious Force abilities – to survive on Lothal. That changed when he met the Ghost crew; Ezra came to believe in their cause, and with the help of Kanan, began to learn the ways of the Jedi, using his custom Lightsaber to undermine the Empire and inspire the rebels.

SABINE WREN
  • Sabine Wren has explosive talents for art and demolitions alike, and she won’t hesitate to use them against the Empire. She can stealthily approach and sabotage the enemy or stand alongside her rebel allies to lend her twin blasters to the cause.

ZEB ORRELIOS
  • Zeb Orrelios is as strong a brawler as he is headstrong. He stands alongside his fellow rebels with his bo-rifle in hand, ready to take on the Imperial forces.

The Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Starter Pack, rated E10+ by the ESRB, will be available this fall for $64.99 and includes the Star Wars™ Twilight of the Republic Play Set, the Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition Base, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices.

Star Wars Rebels Season Two premiered Saturday, June 20th (9:00.m. ET/PT) on Disney XD.

A Play Set based on Disney•Pixar’s upcoming film Inside Out and a Marvel Play Set featuring Hulkbuster, Ultron, and other Marvel characters will also be available. Additional Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition figures and Play Sets will be announced in the coming months.

Here are some screens, and nice shots of the figs (perhaps the best we’ve seen from the STAR WARS Infinity figures thus far?)…

The 10 Coolest Things from E3 2015

[Source: Yahoo!Games, By Ben Silverman]
Who won E3 2015?
         Gamers.
E3 2015 was one of the best shows in years. A current of optimism ran through the crowds roaming the halls of the Los Angeles Convention Center, a palpably positive vibe powered by booth after booth of really good video games. It seemed every company had something worthwhile to show, from big-budget blockbusters to smaller experimental experiences. What’s the next big thing? So many games qualified, it was hard to keep your scoreboard straight.
But for the sake of brevity, I’ve whittled down my enormous list of awesome things to ten. Here’s what really blew me away at E3 2015.

(Credit: Bethesda)
Fallout 4
The post-apocalypse is hotter than Hansel right now, but there can only be one king of the wasteland. Bethesda’s immense, open-world role-playing game isn’t just another excuse to pick apart mutants and hoard Nuka-Cola — it’s a feature-rich beast that gives players impressive control over their scary new world. Yes, you’ll exit a cozy vault and enter a dangerous hellscape, but you’ll also build bases, craft and upgrade weapons, and hang with a helpful canine companion. Bonus: the coolest Collector’s Edition trinket ever.

(Credit: Hello Games)
No Man’s Sky
E3 is filled with surefire sequels, the sorts of blockbusters that publishers depend on on to hit quarterly numbers. Those are all well and good (and all over this list), but the show is also about ambitious new ideas that challenge conventions. No Man’s Sky — a procedurally-generated universe filled with 18 quintillion (!) planets — does exactly that. Is it a space dogfighting shooter? A trading game? Minecraft on the moon? Yes, yes, and sure, why not. Will it be any fun? Who knows, but I’m incredibly excited to find out.

Star Wars Battlefront
It’s a big year for the far away galaxy, but not just because of that little student film project sneaking into theaters this holiday. Star Wars: Battlefront returns in 2015, bringing with it epic multiplayer battles set on Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, and other famous locations. It’s looking great, perfectly nailing the look and feel of the universe and delivering fast, chaotic action.

(Credit: Oculus VR)
Oculus Rift Touch
You couldn’t walk twenty feet at E3 without tripping over a VR headset, but to see the coolest VR demo of the show, you had to claw your way into a frigid room tucked away in the Oculus booth off the show floor. That’s where I found Oculus Touch, the company’s half-moon shaped controllers designed to let you naturally interact with objects inside of a virtual space.

And that’s exactly what I did. Across a virtual table stood Oculus founder Palmer Luckey (or at least his virtual head and hands) and we proceeded to play catch, light fireworks, shoot slingshots, and, well, just exist together in the company’s “Toybox” test bed. After just a few minutes, the smartly-designed Touch controller melted away. I barely noticed it as I giddily waved sparklers and shot Palmer with a shrink ray. It’s not a game on its own — the Toybox is an internal tool for developers — but it’s a remarkable achievement that bodes well for our VR future.

(Credit: Nintendo)
Super Mario Maker
If, like me, your eyes sort of glaze over at the sight of a level editor, you’re probably not interested in Nintendo’s Super Mario Maker. That’s a mistake. This slick, playful take on the portly plumber’s legendary platforming series offers the most immediately gratifying level creator I’ve ever seen, a drag-and-drop system that lets you design Mario levels like a pro in minutes. Playing through fan-made levels is often hilarious, too.

(Credit: Studio MDHR)
Cuphead
Think your 8-bit game is retro? Try Cuphead. Channeling the look and feel of a 1930’s Max Fleischer cartoon, it’s as vintage as it gets. It’s also flat-out gorgeous, but don’t let its playful looks fool you: this is an exceptionally difficult platform shooter heavily influenced by hard games like Treasure’s classic Gunstar Heroes. Which makes sense: The 1930’s weren’t easy.

(Credit: Microsoft)
Minecraft Hololens
We were all a little weirded out when Microsoft bought Minecraft developer Mojang for $2 billion. After seeing Minecraft running in the company’s Hololens AR/VR headset, I think they might have underpaid. Watching a Minecraft level spring forth from a coffee table stunned attendees at the Microsoft press conference, but get up close and personal with it and it’s just as impactful. I could have burned hours building and destroying the little holographic diorama. My one gripe? The Hololens viewing range is too narrow. If they fix that — and presumably they will — this is game-changing stuff.

(Credit: Naughty Dog/Sony)
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
When game developer extraordinaire Naughty Dog shows, people watch. Anyone who caught Uncharted 4 in action knows why. It’s Indiana Jones on steroids, a graphically spectacular action romp that seems to have everything an aspiring adventurer could want. Star Nathan Drake might best be known for clinging precariously to cliffs, but he’ll also get into high-speed car chases, explosive firefights, and bare-knuckle brawls — all at the same time.

(Credit: Team Ico)
The Last Guardian
I have never openly wept during a press conference, but I might — might— have gotten choked up when Sony started their E3 Showcase with this long-in-development adventure game. Created by Fumito Ueda, The Last Guardian tells the tale of a boy and a dragon-ferret-dog bonding as they explore a mysterious land. It’s filled with what looks like a combination of the puzzle-solving and grandiose gameplay found in both Ueda’s past two games: the masterful Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. I’ve been waiting for six years to see it in action again, and it didn’t disappoint...though it’s going to be a real bummer when that dragon-ferret-dog dies at the end (come on, you know it’s coming).

(Credit: Funomena)
Wattam
The Mayor of Wattam is green, cube-headed, and happens to pack a bomb under his bowler hat. That’s not the weird part. The citizens of Wattam, each a bipedal object, from a mushroom to a toilet, have unfortunately been scattered across the world. That’s also not the weird part. Your job as mayor is to stack citizens on top of one another, climb the heap, and then detonate it to attract more lost citizens. That’s still not the weird part. To find everyone, you’ll need to combine people in weird ways. Feed the mayor an apple, for instance, and he’ll do this. Okay, I guess that’s the weird part. Put it all together and you get the sort of wildly creative, totally fresh experience that made designer Keita Takahashi (Katamari Damacy) a personal favorite.

'Inside Out' is the BEST Pixar movie ever!

I N S I D E   O U T
[Source: NPR.org] If you decide to see Pixar's Inside Out — and you absolutely should — see it in 3D. Not only is the film brilliant in three dimensions, but the format brings with it an additional perk: no one can see you crying behind 3D glasses.
Rating: *****

Pixar could teach a graduate-level course in making grown adults weep at animated children's movies. In 2008, WALL-E made me shed tears when EVE tried to piece the tiny robot back together. I can't even talk about 2009's Up without thinking of that montage, while 2010's Toy Story 3 had that gut-wrenching moment when all the toys hold hands. And the tradition continues this summer with the release of Peter Docter and Ronaldo Del Carmen's Inside Out — the studio's most thoughtful and ambitious film to date.

"You need me to be happy," says 11-year-old Riley (Kaitlyn Dias), the movie's precocious protagonist, during one of the film's most poignant scenes. She's talking to her parents, who have moved the family from bucolic Minnesota to the intimidating city of San Francisco.

"But," Riley continues, hesitating. Her voice cracks before she can finish.

That emotional fissure in Riley's psyche is where Inside Out lives, as Docter and Del Carmen (who co-directed and co-wrote the film with Meg LeFauve and Josh Cooley) explore universal feelings like joy and sadness, boil them down to their elemental cores, personify them, and invite us to see how they shape us and the people we love, one memory at a time.

Attempting to anthropomorphize human thought and emotion is a daunting, conceptually challenging task. It would've been easy for any of Pixar's past films to crumple under the weight of such a heavy objective without cute robots, earnest cowboys, squirrel-chasing dogs, and rainbow-hued balloons to lighten things up. But Inside Out feels different. The movie flies on the wings of an almost too-real message — that sadness is an inevitable and necessary part of life. And yet again, Pixar soars.

Inside Out is as beautiful as it is abstract, as daring as it is intelligent. It's also the best movie of 2015 so far.

Relax — it's all inside your head

The voices inside our heads. (Pixar/Disney)
Though Riley is the heroine we're rooting for, she's basically a human Voltron. Her actions are guided by five emotions: the buttercream gumdrop Joy (Amy Poehler); the baggy blue dollop Sadness (Phyllis Smith, a.k.a. Phyllis from The Office); the petulant and red-faced Anger (Lewis Black); the snotty green Disgust (Mindy Kaling); and the skinny, purple-skinned Fear (Bill Hader). These five primary feelings work in unison to make each and every one of Riley's decisions — decisions that keep her safe, help her meet new friends, and do everything from scoring hockey goals to judging new experiences.

Because Riley is a kid who has yet to experience such grown-up rites and responsibilities as heartbreak and paying taxes, Joy has always been the leader of Riley's feelings, creating plenty of memories imbued with the cozy warmth of unfiltered happiness. But the cross-country move has shaken things up for the team and inspired Sadness to step into a more proactive role, causing tension with Joy and kick-starting an emotional adventure inside Riley's mind.

Within the confines of Riley's brain, Inside Out does a hefty amount world-building, all of it stunning. The five emotions operate a control panel fit for a spaceship. There's plenty of Disney whimsy, in that everything looks sugar-spun and edible. The humor is sharp and adult-friendly (Riley's dreams are filmed in an unnamed studio I wish was called "DreamWorks"), and abstract concepts are presented clearly, with help from elements of modern-day tech. For instance, memories are like Vines, and can be fast-forwarded or rewound and watched over and over. Everything comes together in a way that's easy for viewers of all ages to grasp and understand. And it all lies atop the foundation of Inside Out's grand design: the idea that our emotions dictate our memories, which in turn dictate who we are.

Inside Out's humor comes from watching the five emotions wrestle for control, and witnessing how their actions and arguments change Riley's behavior or personality. There's an entertaining aural ping-pong and rhythm that arises as Poehler, Hader, Black, Kaling, and Smith trade jokes. It's human nature to want to be happy, to want everything in our lives to remain joyous, and Poehler as Joy is an expertly tailored fit. Her voice is coated in earnestness and indomitable optimism. She can also be very annoying — just as you might expect from someone who tries to find glee in every millisecond of every moment of every waking minute.

As a result, Inside Out features several Joy-filled scenes where you'll find yourself yearning for Smith's mopey Sadness or Kaling's tweenage Disgust. The movie makes excellent use of its strong voice ensemble, and that's a testament to the impressive storytelling at work.

Inside Out's greatest trick is convincing people it's a comedy

Riley and her parents. (Pixar/Disney)
Though Inside Out contains moments of pure comedy and its exquisite design is insidiously imaginative, the film's focus is more knotty and somber. Beneath the glimmer and one-liners is a clear-eyed attempt to depict the full spectrum of human emotion, to urge viewers to accept that aching, sad life experiences are as inevitable as they as valuable.

Some of its lessons are undeniably mature, and may not resonate with younger kids. Compared with Toy Story or Finding Nemo — two moving yet playful movies about growing up and the importance of family — Inside Out feels more adult, more willing to explore the dark crags of what unhappiness feels like. Indeed, relative to Disney's plethora of fairy tales, Inside Out sometimes makes it seem like Pixar is pounding its chest and shouting, "Bullshit!" into the abyss that is "happily ever after."

It may surprise you to learn, then, that the most impactful character of the movie isn't Joy, or Riley, or even Sadness. That honor goes to Bing Bong (Richard Kind), Riley's imaginary friend who's a strange amalgam of an elephant, a cat, candy, and a dolphin. He's lost among Riley's millions of memories, unaware that she's outgrown him.

"Who's your friend who likes to play? Bing Bong. Bing Bong," he sings with an off-key tootle and a smile. But it's slyly obvious to everyone except Bing Bong that he might be the only one who still remembers the song. Bing Bong also delivers a stark message to parents: childhood innocence is precious and will inevitably disintegrate, but it's also necessary.

Inside Out is about relishing the present, remembering to be grateful, and appreciating all the splendid things about the small moments of our lives. It also wants us to understand that treasuring these moments makes us vulnerable. It's a simple but powerful musing on human nature offered up in the bubblegum world of a film. And while Inside Out may not necessarily the most outright fun film Pixar has made, it is without a doubt the studio's best.

  • The upcoming videogame experience Adrift (aka Adr1ft) bears a whole in common with Alfonso Cuaron’s sci-fi masterpiece, and puts you in the helmet of an astronaut in peril. The game is described as an Immersive First Person Experience (FPX), and judging by the footage in this new trailer, we’d be hard pressed not to agree.
  • Here’s the official synopsis for the game, which sets up the pitch:
  • Floating silently amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen, the only survivor struggles to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.
  • The game is coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC this September. The best part? An Oculus Rift adaptation is also in the works, and though that is admittedly terrifying, it could makes for an extremely creative use of the VR tech. Assuming you can keep from throwing up from all the spinning, of course.
