Descend into the underworld of Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, also known simply as House of Ashes, is a 2021 interactive drama and survival horror video game developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It is the third installment in The Dark Pictures Anthology, after Man of Medan and Little Hope.
During the invasion of Iraq in May 2003, USAF Lt. Col. Eric King arrives at Camp Slayer in Baghdad to debrief a team of Force Recon Marines, who are led by CIA officer and Eric's distant wife Rachel King, about a mission to raid a village in the Arabian Desert. Eric believes he has found a facility underneath the village that stores Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons. The team includes Rachel's lover Sgt. Nick Kay and Nick's squad leader 1st Lt. Jason Kolchek. Other minor characters on the team are Cpl. Nathan Merwin, LCpl. José "Joey" Gomez, and Eric's assistant Dr. Clarice Stokes. Meanwhile, Iraqi Republican Guard soldier Lt. Salim Othman returns home and searches for his son Zain, carrying a birthday gift for him, but his commanding officer Cpt. Dar Basri forces Salim to intercept the raid led by Eric. Salim's squad ambushes the US troops when they arrive but several sinkholes plunge everybody into the ancient Akkadian temple, which is now buried beneath the sand.

Luke was SUPPOSED to the focus of the Disney Plus Obi-Wan Kenobi series instead of Leia. Because of COURSE he was. That's the ONLY thing that makes sense and doesn't break canon. Kenobi was such a missed opportunity for something deeper, and more interesting.

Marvel has been going full throttle with their content output in Phase 4. With show after show after show hitting Disney Plus in the past year, some people are saying that superhero fatigue may finally be setting in. So putting out a new series about a character people aren’t super familiar with, starring a newcomer actress was always going to be a challenge, no matter how well-reviewed the show was. Ms Marvel does raise some questions though. Like does every single teenager boy have a crush on Kamala? Why is this Damage Control department so bad at their jobs? Does everybody just have elaborate exposition presentations ready to go? What’s up with the sudden time travel? How long did those kids have to rig up the entire school Home Alone style?

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a 10-episode original anime by CDPR
and Studio Trigger, debuts only on Netflix this September.
The series tells a standalone, 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in Night City — a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he stays alive by becoming an edgerunner — a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk.
CD PROJEKT RED, the company behind the Cyberpunk 2077 video game, is producing the series with Rafał Jaki (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Cyberpunk 2077, The Witcher: Ronin) as Showrunner and Executive Producer, with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor and Saya Elder serving as producers. The team at CD PROJEKT RED has been working on this new series since 2018. Acclaimed Japan-based animation company, Studio Trigger, will serve as the animation studio on the series and bring the world of Cyberpunk to life with their signature, vibrant style. Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promare) will direct the series along with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi (Kill la Kill), character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari (Little Witch Academia, BNA: Brand New Animal), and the adapted screenplay by Yoshiki Usa (GRIDMAN UNIVERSE series, Promare) and Masahiko Otsuka (Star Wars: Visions ‘The Elder’). The original score will be composed by Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill series).

BATGIRL CANCELLED Warner Bros confirms film starring Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon,
Michael Keaton, JK Simmons and Brendan Fraser won’t ever be released...
[Source: Guardian] The previously announced Batgirl film starring In the Heights actor Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton and Brendan Fraser will not be released at all, Warner Bros Discovery has unexpectedly announced, despite shooting already being completed and the film being in post-production.
Directed by Ms Marvel directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the film was initially greenlit in 2021 as part of a wider move at Warner Bros to create feature films specifically for the streaming service HBO Max. But the studio confirmed on Tuesday that the film would never get any release, either theatrically or on HBO Max.
It declined to provide further comment.
Batgirl was to have Keaton reprise his role as Batman, alongside Grace as the titular hero Barbara Gordon, JK Simmons as Barbara’s father, Commissioner Gordon, and Fraser as the villain Firefly.
The Hollywood Reporter said Batgirl’s budget was a factor in the decision, having risen to nearly $90m (£74.1m, A$130m) due to costs relating to it being shot during the Covid-19 pandemic. While the budget is lower than the average DC superhero film, it was reportedly decided that it did not have the “spectacle that audiences have come to expect from DC fare” and would not recoup its losses from being released.
However, the New York Post, which broke the story on Tuesday, cited an unnamed source who said the budget had actually exceeded $100m and that the film had performed so poorly during early test screenings that Warner Bros decided to cut its losses.
“They think an unspeakable Batgirl is going to be irredeemable,” the source told the New York Post.
The decision means the film ranks among the most expensive cancelled cinematic projects ever.
The move comes amid a change in leadership since Warner Bros merged with Discovery in May 2021. Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav, who recently oversaw swingeing cuts at CNN including shutting down its $300m streaming service CNN+ one month after it launched, is reportedly prioritising cost-cutting and refocusing the studio on theatrical films over streaming projects.
Writing in Variety, Adam B Vary and Brent Lang noted that the decision to cancel Batgirl entirely would allow the studio to “take a tax write-down”, citing sources who said it was “seen internally as the most financially sound way to recoup the costs (at least, on an accountant’s ledger)”.
Several shows including Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, The Last OG and Chad have been cancelled since the Warner Bros Discovery merger, while a DC Comics film of The Wonder Twins that was in development has also been canned.

Nichelle Nichols has died. She was 89. The actress became an icon for groundbreaking performances across TV and film as Lieutenant Nyota Uhura on Star Trek: The Original Series, and its film sequels. Nichols' portrayal
of Uhura was ground-breaking for African American actresses on American
television. In addition to her prolific career, Nichelle was a devoted civil rights activist. She also became a passionate advocate for NASA as 'Star Trek' became a pop culture phenomenon around the world.
