THE DRAGON PRINCE - Season 5 A Race Against Time... The Battle for Xadia Continues...
[Source: Collider] The animated series follows princes Callum and Ezran, and an elven assassin named Rayla, as they unexpectedly join forces to protect the baby dragon prince, Zym. In their travels to reunite Zym with his mother, they find themselves at the center of the 1000-year conflict between the human kingdoms and the magical creatures of their realm, Xadia. The third season ended with our central trio achieving their goal of returning Zym while ending long-lasting feuds between some of the kingdoms.
As the series progresses, Ezran becomes king, while Callum masters the art of magic. The trio (plus Bait) continue fighting for peace, but Viren, a former high council member, plots to take the throne. As we reach Season 4, Viren is defeated, and everything seems like it will end happily ever after. Unfortunately, we get a short time skip and learn that Viren’s daughter, Claudia, has brought him back to life under the command of Aaravos, an evil Startouch Elf.
Season 4 of The Dragon Prince marks the start of a new chapter in the story, The Mystery of Aaravos is about establishing the new status quo as our characters have moved on since the conclusion of Season 3. Rayla, Callum, Ezran, Zym, and Soren must settle their differences and once again save the world from the wrath of Aaravos.
The next phase of The Dragon Prince saga has begun.
Many questions remain following The Battle of the Storm Spire, but only one continues to haunt the very heart of Xadia: “Who is Aaravos?” Where did this enigmatic Startouch elf come from? What does he want? And what price will our heroes have to pay to stop him? Unveil the “Mystery of Aaravos” and more in SEASON 4–coming to Netflix in 2022!
The series is set in a fantasy world on the continent of Xadia which is rich in magic derived from six primal elements: the Sun, the Moon, the Stars, the Earth, the Sky, and the Ocean. Centuries ago, the dragons, elves, and humans of Xadia lived in peace. However, the humans, being unable to utilize magic naturally, began to use dark magic, which is fueled by the life essence of magical creatures. As a consequence, they were driven away to the west, and the continent was split in two by a massive river of lava.
1000 years later, the human King Harrow of Katolis and his advisor, the dark mage Viren, have killed the dragon king, Avizandum "Thunder", and supposedly destroyed his heir's egg. In retaliation, Moonshadow elf assassins attempt to kill Harrow and his heir Ezran. Ezran, his half-brother Callum, and the young assassin Rayla discover that the egg was not destroyed; they undertake to return the egg to Xadia. Viren seizes power after Harrow's assassination and sends his children Claudia and Soren to kill the princes and recover the egg. At the end of the first season, the egg hatches into the Dragon Prince, Zym.
In the second season, Viren attempts to rally the other human kingdoms to war against Xadia; he also makes a secret alliance with the mysterious, imprisoned elf mage Aaravos, with whom he communicates through a magic mirror and a caterpillar-like creature. Meanwhile, Callum becomes the first human to directly access primal magic, connecting with the Sky Arcanum. By the end of Season 2, Viren is imprisoned for treason for having illicitly used Harrow's seal, and for abusing his powers of dark magic. Ezran learns of his father's death and returns to Katolis to claim the throne.
In the third season, Ezran is manipulated into abdicating the throne amid pressure for war and rejoins Callum and Rayla to return Zym to his home, the Storm Spire. Viren, restored to power, leads the human armies against Xadia, amassing even more dark magic with the help of Aaravos. Soren defects to resist his father's evil goals. Viren's army is defeated by the elves and their allies. Rayla throws herself and Viren from the summit of the Spire, and Callum uses Sky magic to save Rayla. Zym is returned to his mother. Claudia revives Viren using dark magic, and Aaravos's caterpillar enters metamorphosis.
As Callum and Rayla cross into the magical realm of Xadia, Ezran returns to Katolis as king and faces pressure from all sides. Season 3 of The Dragon Prince arrives November 22nd, only on Netflix.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS
Season one premiered on September 14, 2018, and immediately topped
popularity lists across Google, Rotten Tomatoes, and Tumblr. Lauded for
the diversity of its characters and deeply layered storytelling, the
show was renewed for a second season less than a month after its debut.
The series’ mix of action, adventure, and humor attracted genre fans,
families, teens, and animation fans of all ages.
This season, expect new characters, new adventures and new challenges
for our young heroes as they race to stop a centuries-old conflict that
even kings and queens have failed to resolve.
The nine-episode second season follows Rayla, Callum and Ezran as
they continue their adventure to Xadia. But the journey won’t be easy:
every step of the way, they’ll be challenged by new foes and old friends
alike. They’ll struggle with trust and betrayal, face down vicious
dragons, and be tempted by the lure of dark magic, all while protecting
the newly-hatched Dragon Prince, Zym.
The series is produced by Wonderstorm and led by co-creators Aaron Ehasz (head writer of Avatar: The Last Airbender) and Justin Richmond (game director of Uncharted 3).
Last season: the magical lands of Xadia and the Human Kingdoms are on
the brink of war. A group of elven assassins sets out to kill the human
leader, King Harrow, to avenge the destruction of the egg of the Dragon
Prince. But when the youngest assassin, Rayla, meets up with the king’s
sons, princes Callum and Ezran, they learn that the egg was stolen, not
destroyed. The unlikely trio embarks on an epic journey to return the
egg to the Dragon Queen and restore peace to both their lands.
[Source: Syfy] Fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender are posting their best reaction gifs following Netflix’s official Twitter announcement today that Airbender head writer Aaron Ehasz has signed on to bring an all-new animated fantasy series to the streaming giant.
Netflix announced the new project, titled The Dragon Prince, in a tweet describing the show as “a new animated series about two human princes who forge an unlikely bond with the elfin assassin sent to kill them, embarking on an epic quest to bring peace to their warring lands.”
Animator Giancarlo Volpe (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) also shared the news of the “secret show” he’d been working on via Twitter, after getting the official go-ahead from Netflix. He also promised more information about the project when the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel goes live on July 21.
Though it’s been off the airwaves a full decade since its three-season run ended at Nickelodeon in 2008, Avatar: The Last Airbender spawned an ardent fanbase that continued to gobble up the vividly animated story of a world in which a few telekinetically gifted heroes could “bend” one of the classic elements — earth, water, air, and fire — to their will.
The network followed up with the similarly successful sequel series The Legend of Korra in 2012, in which the titular hero became the successor to Aang, Airbender’s protagonist: the one hero who could manipulate all four elements.
While there’s not much more to go on than the information Netflix revealed in its Twitter announcement, the art style for The Dragon Prince looks right in line with what we’ve seen from Airbender and Korra. The SDCC panel is sure to bring additional details to light, just in time for the show to land at Netflix; included in The Dragon Prince’s official panel announcement is the news that the show will be premiering on the streaming service sometime this September.
