• Dr. Rosalene and Dr. Watts have peculiar jobs: They give people another chance to live, all the way from the very beginning... but only in their patients' heads.
  
  Due to the severity of the operation, the new life becomes the last thing the patients remember before drawing their last breath. Thus, the operation is only done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives, but didn’t.
  
  This particular story follows their attempt to fulfill the dream of an elderly man, Johnny. With each step back in time, a new fragment of Johnny's past is revealed. As the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time, they seek to find out just why the frail old man chose his dying wish to be what it is.
  
  And Johnny's last wish is, of course... to go to the moon.

The Major and Crew Return 
in New Mini-Series!

• Singer/voice actress Maaya Sakamoto, who voiced the Major in the original movie and in Stand Alone Complex, will be reprising the role of Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Arise, a four part semi-direct to video series with the first 50 minute episode premiering in Japanese theaters June 22nd, ahead of its July Blu-ray release.
• Kise Kazuchika, an animator on the GitS movies, will be helming the work and providing character design with sci-fi novelist Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble) writing. Cornelius (Appleseed: Ex Machina) composes music.

• Creator Akira Toriyama, highly influential in manga animation and known for his playful, influential storytelling and distinctive art style, has been involved with the development of the screenplay and the production for this latest feature. He has delivered a completely new original story that is focused on the period between the "Z" and "GT" Dragon Ball animated series – or, more specifically, between installments 517 and 518 of the Dragon Ball comic book series, filling the 10-year story lapse after Demon Boo is defeated.

Superman Unbound

• Warner Home Video has issued a release date of May 7, 2013, for the release of the next DC Comics animated movie Superman: Unbound on DVD, Blu-ray, and On Demand services. Superman finds the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton - Brainiac - descending upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets - Kandor, included - and now the all-knowing, ever-evolving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life, as well as his newly-arrived cousin, Supergirl.

Futurama Returns for Season Seven

Planet Express Crew is Back!

• [Source: Blastr.com] After bringing the series back to life, Comedy Central has been cranking out a ton of new Futurama episodes. The show finally returns this summer and we have the first trailer right here to see what they'e been working on. Comedy Central has taken a weird approach to splitting up the Futurama runs because of the long lead time in making an animated series, essentially ordering a pile of episodes and breaking them up into mini-seasons. The summer slate of new episodes are technically the back half of season seven, despite the fact that it’s been a season-long wait to get them. But the animated comedy looks as zany as ever and it’s nice to know the Planet Express crew will be flying for at least another year. The network still has 13 episodes in the can, and if they do well, we could have another season or two coming down the pike.

Disney Plans for "Star Wars" Spin-off Movies

[Source: TheWrap.com] Disney is planning "Star Wars" spin-off movies in addition to the three sequels it has previously announced, Chief Executive Officer Robert Iger said Tuesday.

The Disney head said that Lawrence Kasdan is working on one script for the films and Simon Kinberg is working on another. They will focus on characters from the "Star Wars" universe, but Iger did not offer any additional details. [Update: Rumor has it the first spin-off may be about Yoda himself.]

Disney has enlisted J.J. Abrams to direct the first film in a proposed new trilogy. Iger told analysts on a conference call that the company was "pleased" to have Abrams, the director of the "Star Trek" reboot and co-creator of "Lost," taking the franchise into the future.

Michael Arndt, an Oscar-winner for "Little Miss Sunshine," will handle that script. The Abrams-directed film will hit theaters in 2015, Iger said.

Kasdan, who is best known as the director or "The Big Chill," is well versed in the "Star Wars" vernacular. He has previously written the screenplays for "Return of the Jedi" and "The Empire Strikes Back."

Kinberg may not have done a turn in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon, but he has big-budget experience. Among his screenwriting credits are blockbusters like "Sherlock Holmes" (2009) and "X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006).

Iger first announced the projects during an appearance on CNBC. It is more evidence that Disney is hoping to exploit the "Star Wars" characters in myriad ways from toys to theme park rides beyond just continuing the story of the Skywalkers.

Disney needs to be creative when it comes to monetizing these characters because it paid a hefty $4.05 billion in cash and stock to buy Lucasfilm from George Lucas last October.

40th Annie Award Winners list

[Source: LA Times, Susan King] Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph" was named best animated film of 2012 at the 40th Annie Awards on Saturday evening at UCLA's Royce Hall.

Rich Moore also was named best director for the animated comedy about a video game villain who dreams of being a hero, and Alan Tudyk won the Annie for voice acting as King Candy in the box-office hit. Phil Johnston and Jennifer Lee won for their screenplay and Henry Jackman, Skrillex, Adam Young, Matthew Thiessen, Jamie Houston and Yasushi Akimoto won for music.

"Wreck-It Ralph" also won the Producers Guild of America Award last week and is nominated for an Academy Award for animated feature.

Disney's "Paperman," which is also an Oscar nominee, won for best animated short.

Other feature film winners included Andy Hayes, Carl Hooper and David Lipton for animated effects in animated production for "Rise of the Guardians," and Jerome Platteaux, John Sigurdson, Ryan Hopkins, Raul Essig and Mark Chataway for animated effects in a live action production for "The Avengers."

On the TV side, "Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem" won the Annie for best animated special production, while "Dragons: Riders of Berk: How to Pick Your Dragon' '' took home the honor for best animated television production for children.

"Robot Chicken 'DC Comics Special' " was the recipient of the best general audience animated television production award, and John Eng won for best directing in an animated television/broadcast production for "Dragons: Riders of Berk: Animal House." Trey Parker received the Annie for writing in an animated television/broadcast production for "South Park: Jewpacabra."

Kristen Schall earned the Annie for voice acting in an animated television/broadcast production as Mabel Pines in "Gravity Falls: Tourist Trapped."

Terry Gilliam, Oscar Grillo and Mark Henn received the Winsor McCay Award; Howard Green was the recipient of the June Foray Award and Toon Boom Animation earned the Ub Iwerks Award.

Film historian/critic Leonard Maltin and voice actors Rob Paulsey and Maurice Lemarche hosted the ceremony, which is presented by the ASIFA-Hollywood.
