That live action Futurama fan film has arrived
FUTURAMA FAN FILM
"WeirDlY ImAgInatIve"
A group of fans have been working on a live-action fan film based on Futurama — it’s taken about two years — but Fan-O-Rama has finally arrived. And it’s weird. So, so weird.
Matt Groening’s cult hit Futurama is one heck of a weird, surreal future world. In animation, it’s pretty easy to have a leading lady with one eye and a main character who is basically a giant lobster. In live action? Yeah, those visuals can get a little disturbing. But filmmaker Dan Lanigan and his team go all-in with the weirdness, and it’s one heck of a romp. Considering there's no new Futurama on the way, this is certainly a fun little diversion.
They loaded the short with a ton of Futurama in-jokes, so there’s a lot for fans to love. As weird as it all is, you can see the love for this franchise shine through the unsettling (but ambitious!) effects. They’ve re-created a lot of the familiar sets, and we absolutely adore the live-action Bender. Seriously, we want to hang out with that robot.

FUTURAMA - Live-Action Fan Film
F U T U R A M A F A N F I L M
[Source: TheVerge] Futurama was an amazing science fiction cartoon from Matt Groening, the creator of the Simpsons. Following the adventures of Philip J. Fry after he was frozen in the the year 2000 and revived in the 31st century. The show went off the air a couple of times before finally going off the air for good in 2013. The members of Cinema Relics Productions decided to take matters into their hands with Fan-O-Rama, a new live-action fan film for the series.
The production just released a trailer for the film, and while it’s entertaining, it definitely runs into the problem that most cartoon-to-movie adaptations face: bringing their characters to life in three dimensions. Characters like Fry and Hermes are pretty straight forward, but Leela and Dr. Zoidberg are going to take a little getting used to.
That said, the makeup and design team that helped put this together did an amazing job adapting the characters like Professor Farnsworth and Leela, while their props department did a bang-up job with Bender. The film is clearly a labor of love from a group of people who were huge fans the series. While it's definitely a bit strange to look at a cartoon brought to life, it does look like it will be fun to watch.
There’s no indication on their website when the film will be released, but it’s certainly something we’ll check out.

Futurama Gang Returns in Simpsons Crossover
The Simpsons, America's favorite cartoon family returns for their 26th season this fall, and in addition to a crossover with fellow FOX hit Family Guy, the show's also planning to meet up with the Futurama cast in a time-traveling adventure called, appropriately, "Simpsorama."
“They were going off the air, so I thought people would really love it if we had one more chance to see those characters,” Simpsons executive producer Al Jean said. “We’re always looking for things that are compatible with us, and I thought, ‘Well, what’s more compatible?’ We do a joke, actually, about how similar Bender and Homer look. Like, they just erased Homer’s hair.”
We don't have any footage from the episode yet, but we do have the first image, which features Bender going full Kill All Humans on Homer. Check it out:

The Entire Cast of FUTURAMA
DeviantArt wizard Unrellius created this sensational salute to the crazy characters and otherworldly cast of Futurama. The dizzying project took him 14 months to complete and includes Space Bees, Moon Worms and Bone Vampires along with fan favorites Leela, Fry, Bender, Lord Nibbler and the whole gang. Scrutinize this colorful fantasia of Futurama and see how many you can ID without giving yourself a splitting headache.
[Created by Unrellius] This is a project I've worked on for around 14 months! It contains just about every character that appears in Futurama.

Since this is getting a lot of attention, (thanks for that, by the way!) I might address some frequently asked questions:
Q: Why are Finn and Jake from Adventure Time there?
A: This isn't some sneaky trick from me (in fact, I've never even seen Adventure Time before). The characters actually made a cameo during episode 7ACV22 "Leela and the Genestalk". Voice actor John DiMaggio lends his talent to both Bender and Jake the dog, hence the irony of the line "Time for you to shut up!"
Q: Why isn't *insert character here* in the picture?
A: Unless you're thinking of an incredibly minor character, they're most likely somewhere in the picture. Keep in mind that I also wanted to fit it all into a neat rectangle, so a few generic nobodies had to be cut (sorry ghost and horse). Additionally, you may find that large characters such as the Planet Express ship are on TV screens dotted around the image.
Q: Where's Waldo?
A: You're probably joking, but Waldo, (also known as Wally down here in Australia) is there. I'm not kidding. In fact, he even appeared in an episode of Futurama.
Q: Will you make one of these for The Simpsons?
A: No. This one took long enough; I don't want to spend the next 15 years in front of my computer!
Q: Can I print this off and hang it on my wall?
A: Yes, go ahead.

Futurama is Cancelled... Again!
Futurama
[1999 - 2003]
[2010 - 2013]
- Futurama has a pretty crazy history: Though the animated series launched on Fox, the network canceled it after four seasons. Fans persisted in their wish for the show to return, and in 2008 Comedy Central brought it back.
- Sadly, the upcoming season marks the true end of Futurama. Before it premieres, Comedy Central is posting exclusive content every day on Facebook.
- The network's 50-day "Countdown to Futurama" will include character designs, new clips, art and more. I'd say there's quite a demand, since the series' Facebook page has a whopping 26 million fans.
- Futurama returns June 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. Here's a new clip from the season premiere:

Futurama Returns for Season Seven
Planet Express Crew is Back!
- [Source: Blastr.com] After bringing the series back to life, Comedy Central has been cranking out a ton of new Futurama episodes. The show finally returns this summer and we have the first trailer right here to see what they'e been working on. Comedy Central has taken a weird approach to splitting up the Futurama runs because of the long lead time in making an animated series, essentially ordering a pile of episodes and breaking them up into mini-seasons. The summer slate of new episodes are technically the back half of season seven, despite the fact that it’s been a season-long wait to get them. But the animated comedy looks as zany as ever and it’s nice to know the Planet Express crew will be flying for at least another year. The network still has 13 episodes in the can, and if they do well, we could have another season or two coming down the pike.
But for now, get ready for the summer with the extended trailer below:
