How 'Attack on Titan' Wrote the Perfect Plot Twist
The final season of Attack on Titan brought the show's BIGGEST PLOT TWIST YET: Eren manipulated EVERYTHING. The reveal of the Attack Titan's true ability- that lets its users see its future memories- allowed Eren to write the past itself and shows us that he was behind one of the series' biggest moments EVER. And today I'm breaking down what makes this scene so incredibly intense, emotional, and utterly surprising.
Attack on Titan is one of my all-time favorite series. So with the final season right around the corner, here is a recap of everything leading up to it!
Upon the airing of the final episode of the third season on July 1, 2019, it was announced that the fourth and final season of the anime series was scheduled for release on Fall 2020 on NHK General. On September 22, 2020, Crunchyroll and Funimation announced that the final season would be streaming "later this year" in 2020. On September 23, 2020, NHK listed the final season on their broadcasting schedule as airing on December 7, 2020. On May 29, 2020, the final season was confirmed to have switched production studios to MAPPA. Jun Shishido and Yūichirō Hayashi are replacing Tetsurō Araki and Masashi Koizuka as chief director and series director respectively, scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko is taking over the series composition from Yasuko Kobayashi, and Tomohiro Kishi is replacing Kyōji Asano as character designer. Hiroyuki Sawano is being joined by Kohta Yamamoto to compose the music
Eren Jaeger swore to wipe out every last Titan, but in a battle for his life he wound up becoming the thing he hates most. FUNimation has unleashed the first exciting promo video for the second season of Attack on Titan. The animated series is based on Hajime Isayame’s highly successful Japanese manga series of the same name, which has spawned several animated adaptations, a two-part live-action film followed by a spin-off TV series, as well as a couple of videogames, just to name a few.
The story takes place in a world where humanity lives inside cities surrounded by colossal walls because big bad humanoid beings love to chomp down on humans. It follows the story of Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackermann and Armin Arlert, who have joined the Scout Regiment, a group of cadets who fight the good fight against the Titans.
The Attack on Titan: Season 2 promo (which is in Japanese with English subtitles) begins on familiar ground: A group of flesh-hungry Titans are walking toward humanity, and we learn that Wall Rose has been breached. Our young heroes will have their work cut out for them as they make a stunning discovery. The footage reveals the epic return of the Colossal Titan and we have a first look at the new Beast Titan (fans of the manga will be familiar with this one) and so. Much. More!
With the Western release of Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom looming, Koei Tecmo has been keen to show off the game’s pre-order bonuses.
While some of these were in the Japanese release, others are new. For instance, the cleaning costumes for Eren and Levi are included like in the Japanese version but also Mikasa’s festival costume as well (pictured above).
In the US, these will be bundled with the game at pretty much every retailer but in Europe the two costume sets will be split between outlets, with GAME getting the cleaning costumes and mostly everyone else getting the festival costume.
If you buy the game online via the PlayStation store, then you will instead get a selection of avatars to use on the PlayStation Network.
European fans shouldn’t feel put out though, as they’ll be getting a collector’s edition boxset containing all manner of trinkets. Along with a copy of the game, the boxset will include an art book, a muffler towel, six pin badges, the game’s soundtrack and a download code for an alternative special costume for Armin.
Currently this boxset looks to be exclusive to the European release of the game and there are no plans yet to make it available in the US.
The game itself is good though, as I played through and greatly enjoyed the Japanese version on PS4.
Developed by Omega Force, it’s a big departure from their Dynasty Warriors games but they nailed the core mechanics here. This was something many were concerned about, as getting the controls and mechanics for the Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear correct has been something of an obstacle for previous Attack on Titan games.
While the Japanese version of the game was available on PS4, PS3 and Vita, the Western release will be also coming to PC and the Xbox One.
Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom is released in Europe on August 26th and in the US on August 30th.
Following a successful launch in its native Japan, the eagerly anticipated action game will be released on August 30th, 2016 across America under the title, Attack on Titan.
We also confirmed that Attack on Titan will be available for players to enjoy on a wide selection of consoles and is currently being developed for physical release on the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, and for digital-only release on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®Vita handheld system and on PC via Steam®.

Then the unthinkable happens: a titan larger and fiercer than any that have been seen before breaches the wall, and titans flood the city. The future looks bleak, but Eren may be humanity’s last hope against extinction.
[Source: Yahoo!Movies] TOKYO – “Attack on Titan,” Shinji Higuchi’s two-part dark fantasy, based on Hajime Isayama’s best-selling comic about teens battling human-eating giants, debuted atop the Japanese box office for the August 1-2 weekend.
Opening on 427 screens, with Toho distributing, part one earned $5.1 million on 467,000 admissions. Part two, “Attack on Titan: End of the World,” will open on Sept. 19.
The film, which takes considerable liberties with Isayama’s original, has divided fans and critics, with one writing he hoped the giants would devour all the teenaged protagonists before the credit crawl. Director Higuchi has responded in kind on Twitter, stirring up a media storm in the process.
In second place was “Minions,” distributed by Toho-Towa, which scored $4.4 million on 449,000 admissions. The first “Despicable Me” film earned $10 million in 2010 and the second $20 million in 2013.
Last week’s number one, “Hero,” fell to third place while driving total admissions past the two million mark.
A brand-new trailer for the Japanese live-action Attack on Titan movie, adapted from Hajime Isayama's highly popular Attack on Titan manga, has been unleashed. The trailer unveils the live-action version of the story's signature 3D maneuver gear, seen here in action for the first time, and you can see it below.

Director Shinji Higuchi confirmed last July that the project will span two films. Higuchi stated that, with the supervision of Attack on Titan manga creator Hajime Isayama, the story will be based on the world and characters of the manga, while incorporating new characters and new formidable enemies. Yuusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, live-action Gantz, Gantz II: Perfect Answer, 20th Century Boys, Gatchaman) is writing the script. Film critic Tomohiro Machiyama, who is also friends with Isayama, is working on the scripts together with Isayama and Watanabe.
Isayama's manga depicts the battles between humans and the giants who now rule the world outside humans' walled enclaves.

The first look at the towering skinless creatures was recently featured on a Japanese talk show's showbiz segment, where they viewed an astonishing assortment of footage from this year's peasant-plucking, farmer-devouring blockbuster.
The transition from anime to live action appears to adapt smoothly in the faithful iteration directed by Shinji Higuchi, whose previous work on Neon Genesis Evangelion, Kill la Kill and his Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo short film is also featured in this crazy extended preview.

Good Smile Company, Max Factory, and Kotobukiya displayed new Attack on Titan figures at Wonder Festival, the world's largest garage kit event, on Sunday in Chiba, Japan. Good Smile Company's booth featured a large Colossal Titan head peering over a wall.
